Alex Z. Wang is a New York-based gallerist, artist, and strategic advisor working at the intersection of contemporary art, business, and culture.

He is the founder and director of Collective Z, a contemporary gallery at 325 Broome Street on the Lower East Side, dedicated to presenting unapologetic work by artists with something to say. The gallery operates as a platform for artist visibility, market access, and cultural conversation — through exhibitions, representation, and active placement with collectors, advisors, and institutions.

As a painter, Alex creates abstract works that move through atmosphere, memory, and emotion. His practice is rooted in the interplay of color, rhythm, and movement — informed by dance, film, and the visual language of contemporary art. He works from his studio in LES and exhibits internationally.

Before opening Collective Z, Alex spent eleven years at Kearney, one of the world's leading global strategy consulting firms, rising to Principal. He advised Fortune 500 companies across fashion, luxury, healthcare, and consumer goods on marketing transformation, business model design, and commercial strategy. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and studied Fine Arts and Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design.

He works with artists, collectors, and organizations who want to engage with art seriously — and with intention.

Art Fairs

  • In 2025, Wang presented a focused series of solo and curated projects across key U.S. art fair platforms, including solo presentations at Art Santa Fe, The Other Art Fair (Chicago), and Satellite Art Show (Miami). His work was also featured in group exhibitions at the Affordable Art Fair (New York), Hamptons Fine Art Fair (Long Island), CONTEXT Miami, and Aqua Art Miami, with additional solo booths in New York. Collectively, these presentations reflect a deliberate engagement with diverse regional markets and a measured, strategic expansion of his practice within the national art fair circuit.

My work is a meditation on atmosphere, movement, and the emotional landscapes that exist between perception and sensation. Through oil on canvas, I explore the shifting interplay of color, light, and texture—each painting a dynamic field where form dissolves into energy. I am drawn to the transient, the liminal, and the echoes of memory that linger in abstraction, capturing the silent rhythm of motion, the pull of gravity, and the tension between fluidity and structure.

My practice is deeply informed by dance, film, and the ever-evolving visual language of contemporary art. As an avid patron of performance and an observer of the body in motion, I channel this kinetic presence into my work. My paintings embody a choreography of gesture and restraint, where brushstrokes expand and contract, pulse and dissipate—like a breath held and released.

I see painting as an ongoing dialogue between intention and intuition, precision and spontaneity. Whether through deep, saturated tones or the delicate dissolution of light, I seek to evoke a space where viewers can pause, immerse, and find their own reflections within the layers. My canvases do not tell stories in a conventional sense; rather, they offer moments of stillness, an invitation to feel, to wander, and to embrace the ambiguity of the in-between.
